  • Angella thanks "mum Melissa"

    Dear mum Melissa,

Happy new year to you, I wish you the year 2025 filled with blessings and joy 🙏

As I sit down to write this letter, I'm filled with immense gratitude and appreciation for the profound impact you've had on my life. Growing up, I witnessed my mother's tireless efforts to make ends meet, often struggling to pay for my education and basic necessities like food and clothing.

At 12 years old, I faced the daunting possibility of dropping out of primary school due to unpaid fees. With my mother, I pleaded with our head teacher, kneeling and crying in his office to allow me to sit for my final exams. Thankfully, he agreed, recognizing my academic achievements and good behavior. This moment of kindness gave me a second chance, and I successfully completed my primary education.

However, the challenge persisted as secondary education loomed, with even higher costs. Fortunately, my academic excellence earned me a scholarship, which I maintained throughout my six years of secondary school. When it came time for university, I applied for a government scholarship but was unsuccessful. Although disheartened, I remained hopeful. With my mother's support, we managed to scrape together 500,000 to cover a portion of my university fees at Makerere. This was very little money compared to all the required university expenses, tuition and functional fees.

The financial burden was overwhelming and I almost dropped out of school at that moment. That's when our community leader, Mr. Nassar, intervened, connecting us with you, mum Melissa. Your generosity and kindness changed everything. When I first spoke with you, I was overwhelmed with emotion, unable to express my gratitude adequately.

Your unwavering support has transformed my educational journey and beyond. When I had lost hope of completing my university education due to financial constraints, you stepped in and sponsored my tuition. Your generosity not only alleviated my financial burdens but also restored my confidence and faith in my abilities. Your support enabled me to focus on my studies, and I successfully graduated.

But your impact didn't stop there. Your continued support after graduation has empowered me to explore my passions and interests. I've had the opportunity to learn more about leadership, serving my community, and fulfilling my dreams. I still can’t believe that I even got the opportunity to go for a masters degree , I’m one of the luckiest people alive having to witness such kindness like yours mum Melissa.

Your investment in me has yielded a ripple effect, touching not only my life but also the lives of those around me. I’ve been introduced into the amazing rotary family , I became a charter president for my Rotaract club, the very many projects I’ve been part of especially those by the MPCF , sharing food with people in my community, reproductive health for girls everywhere, all this always teaches me each and everyday.

Your selflessness, kindness, and commitment to empowering others are qualities that I admire and aspire to emulate. You've shown me that one person can make a significant difference in someone's life. I want to express my deepest gratitude for your support, trust, and belief in me.

Your impact will be felt for years to come, and I'm honored to have you as a part of my journey.

Thank you for changing my life, mum Melissa. I'm forever grateful.

This got quite long , it got me emotional but I’ve written with a grateful heart ❤️

    With love 💕

  • Martha thanks "mummy Jessi"

    Dear mummy Jessi,

How are you doing mummy? I hope you are fine and your family is too. Back to me, I am doing well. I performed well and I was promoted to primary 4. Thank you so much for choosing to support my education.

My mother was struggling to pay my school fees and I was always sent home and I missed class. But now, I am confident and I attend classes in peace. I am so grateful and thankful.

This term was good, I enjoyed school and learned a lot of things. I participated in dancing competitions and enjoyed my swimming lessons. I wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

I love you from the bottom of my heart.

    Your daughter,

    Martha Murungi Kamara
